A Transformation of Form and Function

Why doesn’t this room feel like it makes any sense? Is the issue at hand one of style, space or something else entirely?

Remodeling is all about problem solving. Our job is to find a functional solution to your home’s unique characteristics combined with your wants and needs. It is our passion. Whether it’s a simple design solution or a matter of maximizing space, no matter the project size, we are ready to help you see solutions to your persistent problems. The end result is that you’ll fall in love with your home all over again.

There are a myriad of reasons you may be looking to remodel your house. Here are a few common ones:

Your home was built in a certain era, and everyone can tell.

Perhaps your home is on the older side, and its décor or its architectural features are so outstandingly reminiscent of a certain era (think: ‘80s-style laminate cabinets) that you feel as though you still live in the decade of disco yourself. This is where Brian Schmidt Builder comes in with a solution to the problem. While the original design can remain tastefully in tact, we can creatively weave in new glass-front, wood cabinet doors and turn tacky tiled flooring into the dark hardwood you’ve been dreaming of.

Your home is vintage chic, but doesn’t meet your modern needs.

Brian Schmidt Builder is an expert in working on homes built in the 1920s, ‘30s, ‘40s and beyond in order to modernize certain elements while respecting original, classic design. Brian can artfully preserve original vintage style while updating architectural features for safety and comfort, preserving your home for decades to come.

You want your home to age gracefully, as you do.

Getting older doesn’t mean you have to move out of the home you cherish. To the contrary, Brian Schmidt Builder can help make your home work for you no matter what mobility limitations you have now–or may have in the future. Brian Schmidt’s expertise in Universal Design means that your home can be enhanced with special safety features that will allow you to stay put safely.

From Dreaming to Doing: Getting Started on Your Home Remodel

Below is a simple outline of the process you can expect to go through with Brian Schmidt Builder:

  1. First, we will complete a walk-through of the portion of your house you’re interested in remodeling. In the case of a whole-house remodel, we will do a full review your entire home. Regardless of the size of the project, we will ask you questions about the goals needs and desires you have prior to beginning anything. We will also take photos and complete rough measurements of the space in order to get a better sense of where we will begin.
  2. The design phase begins next, and you will be encouraged to list questions and ideas that come up on a notepad that we’ll supply to you. This process ensures that anything that comes to mind after our first visit will be addressed along the way. It’s never too late to ask a question or voice a concern.
  3. Upon completion of the design, we will collaborate with you to determine which materials and fixtures will be used. Next, we’ll settle on a specific budget and timeline for the project, which will lead us to choosing the ideal team of builders who will complete this specific job for you.
  4. Once we begin physically working on the project, you will be involved in the process every step of the way. If you have questions or concerns, we’ll be there to answer them. As with any project, if changes come up, we’ll be there to explain them all to you so that you feel comfortable and in control throughout the duration of the process.
