A Background In Design And A Knack For Problem-Solving
Brian knows how to plan and manage complicated projects from beginning to end, and brings decades of home construction experience to every remodel, from a single kitchen to a whole home.
In 2015 his Lake Oswego home, Joie de Vivre, won 17 of 21 awards at the NW Natural Street of Dreams, and he was named HBA Builder of the Year. Brian Schmidt Builder has also been recognized with Best of Lake Oswego and Best of Houzz design awards in 2017 and 2018.

Common Questions
What does a kitchen or bath remodel cost here?
What moves the number is whether we are moving plumbing and structure or working within the existing layout. We will give you a real range after walking the space, and a detailed budget before any work begins.
Can we keep living in the house?
Often, yes. We plan the sequence around your household, protect the areas we are not working in, and agree on work hours before we start. On a whole home remodel we will tell you honestly if moving out for part of it would save you time and money.
How long does a remodel take?
Kitchens and baths move faster than additions and whole home remodels, which take longer because of permitting. You get a calendar before demolition, not after.
Do you handle design and permits?
Either way works. We can bring in designers and architects we have worked with, or work alongside a team you have already hired. We handle permitting and keep you posted on where it stands.
What happens when you find something behind a wall?
In an older home, it happens. You hear about it right away, with options and a price, before the work continues.
