Street of Dreams

Joie de Vivre at the 2015 Street of Dreams

Brian Schmidt Building was honored to have been chosen to build a home for the 2015 Street of Dreams in Lake Oswego. This home’s name “Joie de Vivre,” is fitting, as it means “Joy of Life.” We are confident that the owners feel a genuine sense of joy every time they open the door to enter their brand-new, modern, custom home.

A team of professionals with decades of experience joined us to work on this unique project, including: Mike Barclay of Barclay Home Designs, as well as Ronda Divers and Amelia Safley of Ronda Divers Interiors, who brought some of the finest lighting and high-tech home automation in the industry to this special project. The European company Reynaers (now Kolbe Windows) provided the oversized windows, which reach from the floor to the ceiling; this element allows for stunning views of Mount Hood and exceptional natural light from within this 5,736-square-foot home. This particular collaboration marks this company’s initial entry into the American market, and we’re excited to be a part of it.

Custom interior details, such as a one-of-a-kind suspended staircase and maple cabinetry make this home a modern haven; lighting and AV systems integrate seamlessly into the home, offering high-tech touches that make living here a futuristic reality. The three linear fireplaces placed throughout the home provide warmth while adding a modern design touch to an age-old system of heating.

“Joie de Vivre’s” stunning atrium entry makes a statement while flowing effortlessly into the living and dining areas, which boast hardwood floors throughout. The luxury kitchen features wall-length glass doors that slide open to an outdoor living space that’s complete with a fire pit for those crisp, undeniably gorgeous, late summer nights. Of course, when fall hits, the lower level of this home becomes the space for entertaining, with its built-in bar, wine refrigerators and mounted flat-screen televisions. Winter nights won’t chill the homeowners at “Joie de Vivre,” thanks to the personal exercise studio and outdoor sport court that were built with care.

All of these touches, along with three separate laundry areas and space to build an elevator in the future, ensures that the owners of this beautiful home can live in it comfortably no matter what stage of life they’re in. Whether they’re raising their kids or enjoying their retirement years here, they’ll be able to truly experience the joy of life.
